The Birthday Book[]

Rachel and Kirsty are on their way to roller-skate in Tippington park, chatting excitedly about Mrs Walker’s surprise birthday party. They pass the village hall where a birthday party is in chaos. After trying to comfort the birthday girl, Maya, but they give up and go to the park.

They see Rachel’s neighbour Sam who says his friend’s birthday party has been ruined. Finally, they meet Belle the Birthday Fairy, who confirms at birthday parties are going wrong because Jack Frost has decided to steal her magic objects. She transports the girls to Fairyland to look for clues.

The fairies spot three goblins sneaking into The Fairyland Palace and follow them into the library, watching them search through the bookshelves for the Birthday Book. They hear the goblins muttering about throwing a surprise birthday party for Jack Frost but they don’t know when it is, hence they are looking for the Birthday Book.

The fairies sneak up on the goblins and explain they want to help look for it. They eventually find the Birthday Book under a cushion of an armchair and Belle looks through the book for Jack Frost’s birthday. Rachel realises it’s on the same day as her mum’s.

The goblins scurry away and Belle thanks the girls for helping her find the book. They’re magicked back to the park, determined to find the rest of her objects before Mrs Walker’s party.

The Birthday Candle[]

It is a cold rainy day and the girls are going to Tippington Bakery to pick up Mrs Walker’s cake. The baker, however, has been having trouble making it, attempting to make it three times but each time it goes wrong. They leave, disappointed. Just then, three goblins burst into the bakery and Belle appears in their umbrella.

Turning them into fairies so they can watch the goblins unnoticed. The goblins are unsatisfied with the cakes the baker has made and orders him to leave so they can make a better one. They throw him out and head into the kitchen.

The fairies enter the kitchen and come across a giant mess of flour, icing sugar and eggs as the goblins bake a cake. One of them takes out the magic candle from his coat pocket and the girls try to devise a plan. After some squabbling, all the goblins are concentrating, backs turned on the candle on the worktop. Rachel flies over to take it, but it’s too heavy. One goblin spots her and throws a sieve over her, trapping her.

Kirsty and Belle reveal themselves, asking the goblins to let her out. Kirsty recognises them as the three goblins who broke into the palace. The goblins reveal they came to make a birthday cake for Jack Frost so Belle bribes them to release Rachel if she speeds up the baking time of their cake and they agree.

Even though it looks nasty with eggshells poking out, the goblins are pleased and leave with it. Belle cleans the kitchen up and produces a cake for Mrs Walker. She returns them to human size and disappears.

The Birthday Present[]

The next day, Mrs Walker’s surprise birthday party is in full swing and everyone is enjoying themselves. When she goes to open Rachel and Mr Walker’s present, she is disappointed to see a pair of muddy boots wrapped up. The girls leave the village hall and use their lockets to transport themselves to Fairyland.

They walk through the Fairyland Palace, passing old fairy friends, til they get to the Great Hall where King Oberon and Queen Titania sit. They explain they are helping the goblins prepare for Jack Frost’s party. Belle explains her magic shows her that her magic present is in Jack Frost’s Ice Castle and the girls decide they want to go with her to find it.

The fairies arrive at the castle to see a goblin on his motorbike pulling a trailer. They sneak in it and he drives them into the courtyard. Hearing the party is taking place in the Great Hall, they fly there, narrowly missing Jack Frost who is storming around looking for goblins. The girls find presents stashed behind the throne and pull out the magic present but the goblins enter to decorate and Belle is unable to magic them back to the Fairyland Palace. Rachel and Kirsty decide to fly around the hall, distracting the goblins as Belle flies out the open window. The goblins try to catch them, but they’re too quick.

Suddenly, the door flings open, frightening the girls. They turn around and see Jack Frost standing there, watching in horror at the chaos of goblins and fairies. Just as he’s about to discover the presents, the goblins throw themselves at him and at the perfect moment, the King and Queen followed by the fairies arrive, decorating the hall with streamers and laying tables with food. The three goblins present Jack Frost with the cake and everyone sings ‘Happy Birthday’. Jack transforms some of his goblins into the Gobolicious Band and declares the party started.

After dancing with their fairy friends and some goblins, the girls decide they should get back to Mrs Walker’s party and Belle thanks them once again. She gifts them heart-shaped rings and whisks them back to the human world, where Mrs Walker has opened Rachel and her dad’s present (being a jewellery box) and the girls smile about their adventure.
