Cherry the Cake Fairy is the first fairy in the Party Fairies series.

Profile from the Official RM Facebook Page[]

Cherry specialises in creating fanciful cakes of all shapes and sizes. If a party is in danger of being ruined by a spoiled cake, Cherry rushes from Fairyland to save the day. Her incredible creations are almost too beautiful to eat, but they are also too delicious to resist. Her wand sends out swirls of tiny red cherries and glittering purple magic. Cherry doesn't mind seeing her works of edible art reduced to crumbs, because she's already looking forward to creating the next one. She's always cheerful and optimistic. Instead of dwelling on today's failures, she'd much rather be looking forward to tomorrow's triumphs.

Blurb[]

Everyone in Fairyland is busy preparing for the King and Queen's 1000th jubilee. But Jack Frost has stolen the party fairies' magic party bags. Can Rachel and Kirsty stop him?

Kirsty is enjoying breakfast and several birthday cards from her mum and Rachel at the start of spring break, happy that her friend is staying over for the week. As the girls head upstairs to dress, Rachel spots another envelope in the mail slot and picks it up, to find it’s addressed to her and Kirsty, but not in a handwriting she recognises. Kirsty encourages her to open it and a puff of fairy dust comes out, followed by a rainbow and Bertram the frog. He blows a tiny bugle, reads from a scroll that the girls are invited to the fairy king and queen's 1000th year celebration of their reign and sprinkles fairy dust from his pocket on Kirsty’s mirror to show the girls seven fairies preparing for the party in Fairyland. After naming the seven Party Fairies and their jobs, Bertram informs the girls that the party is at the end of the week and all the girls need do to attend is step on a magic rainbow The Fairy Godmother will send, demonstrating how as he leaves. The girls get dressed and then help prepare Kirsty’s birthday party.

Once the guests arrive, the first activity is musical statues. Rachel is trying to hold still on one foot when some red and purple glitter makes her and Kirsty sneeze, eliminating them from the game. The girls follow the dust through the doorway to discover Cherry the Cake Fairy, who tells them she’s been summoned because Kirsty’s cake is in danger, a goblin has been ruining cake after cake and is headed her way. When they reach the kitchen, they find that the goblin got there first, the cake is covered in little footprints and the candles are gone. The goblin, who is thankfully normal goblin size unlike the last goblins the girls faced, snatches Cherry’s party bag and makes a run for it, but Kirsty’s kitten Pearl scares him and he shuts himself in a cupboard instead. Rachel demands he give back Cherry’s bag and the goblin refuses, revealing that Jack Frost is planning his own party powered by stolen Party Fairy dust because he’s restricted to his Ice Castle for previous crimes and can’t attend the king and queen’s party.

Cherry is horrified, she and the other Party Fairies need their bags to finish their preparations, but she can’t send the goblin to Fairyland where the Fairy Godmother can take care of him unless she can see him and he’s holding still. Looking at her cake gives Kirsty an idea and she loudly announces she needs to make more icing as she begins mixing a batch. At Kirsty’s whispered suggestion, Cherry makes the icing extra sticky with a bit of magic before Kirsty spreads it on the cake and noisily leaves the room with Cherry and Rachel, peeking through the doorway. The goblin emerges and eagerly tries to stomp in the new icing, but gets stuck just as Kirsty planned. Cherry sends the goblin back to Fairyland, bringing the girls along with a bit of magic so they’ll only be gone a moment. There, the Fairy Godmother greets the girls, returns Cherry’s party bag to her and sentences the goblin to icing cakes in the workshop. With a warning that more goblins will try to cause trouble at human parties to summon the other Party Fairies and steal their bags, Cherry and the Fairy Godmother send the girls home.

They arrive back in Kirsty’s kitchen just as the Musical Statues game ends and Cherry’s fairy dust lands on Kirsty’s cake, transforming it into a three-tiered masterpiece decorated with models of the Party Fairies. When it’s cut open, magical butterflies sparkle around the room, impressing all the guests.
