Rachel and Kirsty excitedly hop out of the Walkers’ car at Tippington Manor, which has greenhouses full of orchids (Mr Walker’s favourite flower) and an expansive playground, which both girls make a beeline for. The girls have the playground to themselves, and they go straight for the big treehouse in the center, accessed by a ladder to system of wood-and-rope bridges between trees with safety nets beneath. Just before she reaches the treehouse, Rachel’s hair ribbon gets caught on a tree branch and comes off. Before she can start back after it, the bridge flickers, then disappears entirely. The girls realise the magic amethyst, which powers appearing and disappearing magic, must be nearby, while Rachel wonders how to get her ribbon back.

Luckily, Amy the Amethyst Fairy has appeared and brings Rachel the ribbon as they tell her what they saw. There’s no sign of the amethyst in the treehouse, but Rachel sees it sparkling in the branches of another tree. Before they can reach it on the one remaining bridge to the treehouse, a goblin wearing gloves climbs down from a higher branch and grabs it, then takes off along the next bridge. The last bridge between him and the ladder also disappears before he can cross it, meaning he’d have to pass the girls to reach the treehouse or the ground, so instead he throws the amethyst to one of two more goblins now leaning out the treehouse windows.

As the jewel flies through the air, tree branches appear and disappear at random. The goblins in the tree house realize that Rachel and Kirsty are blocking their only path to the ladder, so they drop to the safety net and begin crawling towards the ladder, hampered by their large feet. The third goblin joins them. Amy turns the girls into fairies so they can follow without bridges, but this also means none of them are big enough to take the amethyst. Instead they try to make the goblins drop the jewel. Kirsty notices a dangling rope that’s just appeared and flies to the tree house with the end of it, Amy and Rachel following. Amy turns the girls back into humans at their request, and Kirsty uses the rope to swing past the goblins and grab the amethyst on the way by. Rachel catches Kirsty as the rope swings back, and the first bridge from the treehouse to the ladder reappears. Before they can cross it, all three goblins climb up to the platform, blocking the ladder from every direction. One stands guard while the other two rush across the bridge at them. At Rachel’s suggestion, Amy recharges her wand and makes a spiral slide appear, giving the girls another exit from the treehouse. The goblins follow quickly, chasing them beneath the safety nets.

This time, Amy has the idea to make some of the ropes disappear so part of the net falls down, trapping the goblins underneath. After replacing the downed piece of net with an identical one, she returns the amethyst to Fairyland and thanks both girls before leaving. Back at the greenhouses, Rachel’s father has purchased an orchid, which the girls notice is the exact same color as Amy’s amethyst.
