Friendship Fairies

Fizz the Fireworks Fairy (U.S. name: Skyler the Fireworks Fairy) is the 37th fairy in the Holiday Special Fairies series.

Blurb[]

Kirsty and Rachel are going to the Sundown Village fireworks festival. But Jack Frost wants the show to fizzle out! Can the girls help Fizz the Fireworks Fairy return the sparkle to Sundown?

Appearance[]

Fizz has long, dark brown hair held back by a red hairband. She wears a blue jacket over a white and dark blue mini dress over red leggings and light blue ballet pumps. Her wings are pointed and reddish-pink-tinted.

Symbol: Fireworks and rockets.

Magic Objects/Job[]

Magic Objects:

  1. The Cupcake: makes sure plans for fireworks night go well.
  2. The Bunting: makes sure everyone has their own traditions and favourite things about fireworks night.
  3. The Sparkler: makes fireworks extra sparkly. Without it, they won't be as good.

Job: Fizz's job is to ensure that everyone enjoys firework displays.

Jack Frost's Poem[]

Everyone loves a good firework show,

But I think they're boring places to go.

Some sparkles, some spinners, a Catherine Wheel,

So many fireworks, but what's the big deal?

Everyone's staring up into the sky,

Watching silly explosions- but why?!

Watching this show and ignoring Jack Frost,

Well, I say, all fireworks, go away, get lost!

And this year I won't be left on the shelf,

Because I'll have the fireworks all to myself!

I'll steal Fizz's magic, and all will soon see me,

That the star of the show is me, me , me!

The Magic Cupcake[]

The Tates and Rachel are driving to Kirsty's grandparents house in Sundown so the girls can celebrate the village's birthday, the Tates joining later. Upon arrival, they are greeted by Grandma and Grandpa, but Rachel hears a firework noise. Throughout lunch, she is further distracted and Kirsty becomes worried, so they pass on Grandpa's chocolate cake and go out into the garden. Kirsty admits she also heard firework sounds and Rachel points out they're coming from some garden gnomes.

As Kirsty reaches out, a fairy appears through fireworks and introduces herself as Fizz the Fireworks Fairy. She explains that Jack Frost was getting bored when one of his goblins suggested watching a fireworks show. The goblins got excited and Jack felt left out. Using a magic bubble, the scene showed the goblins sneaking into Fizz's home and stole her magic objects. She explains she tried to stop them when Jack Frost showed up and sent the goblins into the human world.

The girls agree to help and Fizz outlines each object's job, before the cottage door opens and Grandma scolds Grandpa for not following the recipe. Mr and Mrs Tate exchange goodbyes with the girls and drive off. Grandpa decides to go to the cupcake social and the girls join him.

There, they find the cupcakes are ruined and a boy points out a stall run by the goblins, who are trying to sell Fizz's magic cupcake to the highest bidder. A man in a suit tries to buy it and Grandpa attempts to make it fair.

The crowd soon turns on the goblins and they run away, chased by the crowd. The girls try to join but Grandpa stops them. The goblins run back and are stopped by the suited man's daughter. The goblin trips and the cupcake flies out of his hand, caught by Fizz who instantly returns to Fairyland. The social returns to normal and Grandpa and the girls enjoy the cupcakes, promising to take some home to Grandma.

The Brilliant Bunting[]

Two days later, Rachel and Kirsty are waiting to hear from Fizz. Grandma calls them for breakfast, but when they do, she and Grandpa are nowhere to be seen. The girls leave for Main Street and check out the calendar for that day's activities. They go to the bakery but the owner closes it since the customers are opting for ice cream. The girls hear a noise and see Fizz in a tree. They watch as people enter and leave the ice cream shop, one of whom is Grandpa.

When Kirsty asks why he is in town, he explains Grandma didn't want to make breakfast so they went to the bakery but thought it was boring. Kirsty reminds him about the activities but he goes home. Rachel then sees a bag of bunting, the girls volunteer to help put up the decorations to find the magic bunting but it isn't there. As they talk about how quiet the street is, Kirsty and Rachel try to encourage kids to come outside, Fizz using her magic to make the kids smile.

They gather enough children for the tug-of-war competition, including Carter and Sandy, the boy and girl seen at the cupcake social. Carter says he doesn't know the kids on the other team as they're wearing baseball caps. The girls realise they're goblins and their team loses to them.

They join the goblins as the teams do a switch, who become excitable over the competition. Fizz explains her magic bunting could be making the goblins enthusiastic. During the game, Kirsty trips and Rachel falls, bringing the goblins down with them and the team loses.

The goblins are angry at the girls but one goblin becomes excitable over the parade. The girls dress up as Greek goddesses after the majority of the costumes are taken by the goblins. They search for the lone goblin and find him dancing, with the magic bunting around his waist. Fizz conjures up a ballgown and the girls trade it for the bunting. The goblin, Kirsty and Rachel join the parade, with their Greek goddess costumes replaced by a pirate and elf warrior.

The Sizzling Sparkler[]

The following morning, Fizz wakes Rachel and Kirsty early so they can search for her magic sparkler. As the girls are getting ready, someone knocks on the door and Kirsty says it's some children from the tug-of-war who invites the girls to the Sundown Challenge. They leave for the town centre, where one twin, Milo, explains the plans for the day. The girls join him and the other twin, Aro as well as Carter and Sandy for the obstacle course relay and find goblins participating. The other racers struggle until Rachel falls through the hay bale pyramid.

Kirsty comes to her aid and as they talk, the goblin from the parade speaks up. Kirsty asks what he is doing and he explains he was told to stop the other teams but didn't want to. Rachel says it's cheating and he apologises, offering to help. He shows the girls through a secret door and gives them Carter's shoe. The girls return to their team but the relay was won by the goblins. They start the scavenger hunt, going to the bakery then to the clock tower. They solve the clue but hear goblins down the steps and race to the Fireworks Factory Museum.

Upon arrival, a man in the ticket booth gives them a map and tickets and they enter. When Rachel sees a sparkle, the group agree to split up. As the girls discuss the danger of a lit sparkler setting off old fireworks, they see Fizz, who explains that her sparkler isn't acting like it should. The trio find the goblins arguing over the sparkler. Sandy and Carter run up to them, announcing they have the next clue.

Fizz uses this to lead the goblins out of the building. They arrive at the lake to start the final game. As they're finding hiding places, the girls see the goblins arguing on a swimming dock with the sparkler. Turned into fairies, they all fly across to the goblins and use Fizz's magic to make themselves sound like ghosts, frightening the goblins. The sparkler is thrown and Fizz catches it.

Her wand erupts with magic, making the equipment glow and the girls are back on shore turned into humans. They leave the woods to find their team has won, but Sandy is disappointed there is no prize. Rachel gives her a charm bracelet Fizz magics up and Sandy is happy. The pair find the Tates, Grandma and Grandpa setting up for the fireworks show. Rachel thanks the family for inviting her and Mr Tate comments the fireworks will be the best and magic is in the air. The girls smile.
