Harriet the Hamster Fairy is the fifth fairy in the Pet Keeper Fairies series.

Harriet's charge is Twinkle, the magic pet hamster. Once, Twinkle shrank herself down to the size of a peanut. Twinkle stuffs a surprising number of things in her cheeks. Harriet's magic is made up of bright red sparkles. Harriet is often sleepy during the day, due to the fact that hamsters are nocturnal, and she is often up late at night playing with Twinkle. Like her pet, Harriet can see very well in the dark, and they are both very good at finding their way through mazes.

Harriet has short, blonde hair pushed back by a dark blue headband decorated with a red flower. She wears a light blue dress with a dark blue sash, red sandals and a red flower pendant necklace. Her wings are pointed and red-tinted.

Kirsty has brought Rachel along to her neighbour Jamie Cooper’s house for her first day looking after his hamster Nibbles while the Coopers are on vacation. She’s dismayed to find the hamster cage’s door wide open and she and Rachel begin to search once they confirm Nibbles has escaped. They find some chewed envelopes and fruits and a few wood shavings on the floor, but a scratching noise from the hall closet turns out to be a goblin instead. He joins two more on the stairs, who reveal that they let Nibbles out so a fairy pet would come rescue him, then run away up the stairs. Kirsty notices a red sparkle from the living room and discovers that it’s been turned into a hamster playground since she and Rachel left the room, with tunnels, wheels and wood shavings everywhere. Kirsty sees the orange and white hamster first but can tell that it isn’t Nibbles, even before it creates a plastic spiral tube from thin air to climb down off the couch.
Harriet the Hamster Fairy appears down the chimney at that moment, clearing soot off herself with her wand and greeting the girls cheerfully. When Twinkle the magic hamster reaches the end of the time she shrinks to her normal size and scampers through the air towards Harriet, but a goblin that had snuck back downstairs catches Twinkle and runs upstairs with her. Harriet turns the girls into fairies to follow him, then back into girls once the goblins flee into Jamie’s bedroom. The girls begin searching the room for goblins, finding none in the toy box or on the bed.
Kirsty finds one hiding in the curtains and startles him, but he doesn’t have Twinkle. Rachel scares another out from under the bed with a toy snake that Harriet makes move with a bit of fairy dust. He doesn’t have Twinkle either, so when the girls hear the third goblin in the closet they move carefully. They can see him hiding among Jamie’s dress-up costumes and Harriet uses fairy dust to make a feather from a headdress tickle his feet until he gives Twinkle back.
The goblin makes his escape as Harriet and Twinkle reunite and Twinkle tells Harriet that Nibbles is somewhere above them in the house. The girls climb to the cluttered attic, where Twinkle leads the way to a brass lamp that reminds both girls of the Aladdin story. Nibbles is curled up asleep inside. Harriet thanks the girls for helping her and sends some fairy dust downstairs to clean up the living room, but this alerts the goblins who come pounding up the attic stairs. Rachel tells Harriet to escape out the little attic window with Twinkle and fly home to Fairyland, which she does, the goblins reach the attic in time to see her escape and they all rush back downstairs and outside after her. The girls are amused to see them chasing a sparrow which they think is Harriet. Back downstairs, Kirsty finds that Harriet’s magic has filled Nibbles food and water dishes too, but decides to bring the cage to her house to keep him safe, just in case.
