On the final day of auditions for the Tippington Variety Show, Kirsty and Rachel have arrived at the ice rink early so they can do some skating of their own before the skating auditions begin. Kirsty has been taking some lessons in basic figure skating, but Rachel hasn’t skated since their adventure with Imogen the Ice Dance Fairy. Unfortunately, since Isla the Ice Star Fairy’s magic star is missing, Kirsty can’t show Rachel any of the moves she’s learned without falling over. When the performers arrive, Rachel introduces Kirsty to the pair she knows from school. The judges call attendance and Icy Towers (the fake school the Goblins have been “rehearsing” for) is absent. All the performers are given a bit of practice time on the rink and soon everyone is falling over.

In a shower of ice flakes raised by someone’s skate blade, Rachel sees Isla appear and flutter towards the audience seats. Both girls skate over to meet her and she tells them that the goblins are practising their skating at Jack Frost’s ice castle. When no one is looking, Isla turns the girls into fairies and brings them to the castle’s frozen moat, where four goblins are skating beautifully. The three fairies soon realise that the goblins still haven’t decided which two will go to the auditions, they keep grabbing Isla’s star from each other.

Kirsty comes up with a plan and asks Isla to disguise her as a goblin. Isla warns her the disguise won’t last long, since her magic is weakened without the star, but turns Kirsty green and goblin-sized, with a purple skating costume. Near the star, Kirsty’s own skating skill is restored and she’s able to keep up with them. Hoping to distract the four goblins from the sudden appearance of a fifth, Rachel and Isla flutter around near the goblins. Kirsty has almost convinced the goblin with the star to hand it to her for safekeeping when the castle drawbridge crashes open to reveal Jack Frost. He scolds the goblins, reminding them that they should be ruining auditions, not joining them. Taking the star, he stalks inside the castle and shuts the door.

By the time the goblins have removed their skates and piled them on a sled, Jack Frost returns in a skating costume, carrying a pair of skates of his own. Rachel and Isla hide in Kirsty’s hat brim while Jack Frost orders the goblins to follow him and Kirsty trails along behind the sled. At a frozen pond nearby, Jack Frost performs his own skating routine, impressing all the goblins. Thinking fast, Kirsty skates out to join him, asking if he can show her some moves. As they skate, Isla unloads the sled and she and Rachel send it sliding onto the ice. Kirsty and Jack Frost enter a spin, holding hands. When they spin faster, Kirsty’s hat comes off just as her magic disguise fades completely. She lets go of Jack Frost, sending him reeling away towards the sled. Instead of colliding with the sled like Rachel and Isla planned, Jack Frost leaps over it, but seeing the waiting fairies distracts him and he lands more heavily than he meant. The ice cracks slightly. At Rachel’s suggestion, Isla widens the crack with her magic and sends Jack Frost toppling into the shallow water below.

The star floats away from Jack Frost and Isla is able to grab it and attach it to her wand before Jack Frost finishes climbing back onto the ice. Hovering out of reach, she uses a bit of fairy dust to dry Jack Frost off and more to send the girls back to the human world, but not before they hear him threaten to ruin the Variety Show. Back at the rink, all the auditioning skaters perform very well, even though Rachel’s friends don’t win. Everyone is allowed onto the rink after auditions and Rachel is able to do a wobbly figure eight with Kirsty’s help.
