Having taken a Junior Naturalist class in the morning, Rachel and Kirsty are now searching the woods on Rainspell Island for the wild edible plants listed on a soup recipe they’ve been given. Carefully digging a few wild onions, Rachel asks Kirsty for their booklet on mushrooms so they can make sure to collect edible ones. The girls are admiring the forest plants and animals when a sudden rain shower sends them running for shelter under some thick trees. There, Kirsty discovers some mushrooms that match the booklet and is about to pick some when Lily the Rainforest Fairy flies out from underneath one.
Lily turns the girls into fairies and whisks them off to the rain forest where her wand has been taken. Once there, she points out various animals and explains the importance of the tall trees - they provide plenty of oxygen, and habitat for most of the rainforest’s animals. Rachel is the first to hear an animal screeching in distress, which turns out to be a bright red and blue parrot who leads them to a small, noisy clearing. Five Goblins are playing bumper-cars in bulldozers, tearing up the ground and banging into trees. Lily thanks the parrot and sends him away from the danger, then tries to tell the goblins to stop. The one with her wand only sticks his tongue out and continues driving his bulldozer around, so the girls and Lily fly into the canopy to think of a plan.
Rachel notices that the tree they’ve landed in is laden with big yellow fruits, and starts knocking the ripest ones down in hopes that they’ll obstruct the goblins’ views. Kirsty and Lily help her, but the goblins only wipe the seeds and pulp off their windscreens and start up their engines again. The exhaust gives Kirsty an idea, and she suggests stuffing bananas into the bulldozers’ tailpipes. Lily agrees, turning the girls human near a banana tree and zipping around to distract the goblins while the girls plug up the pipes. When the bulldozers’ engines falter, the goblins notice the girls but not the bananas; Lily turns the girls into fairies again and removes the bananas with magic to be safe.
The goblins abandon the bulldozers and begin swinging through the trees on vines, passing the wand between them so it’s hard for the three fairies to keep track of it. Lily calls to the rainforest animals for help, and a large group of rainforest creatures catch up with and overtake the goblins. At Kirsty’s suggestion, the animals grab more vines and manage to ensnare all five goblins at once. Once the girls have brought her her wand, Lily frees the goblins and orders them home. She then heals most of the damage the goblins caused and shrinks their bulldozers to fairy size so no loggers can use them. Asking them to spread the word about saving the rainforests, Lily sends the girls back to Rainspell Island, where they finish gathering their mushrooms and talk about different ways to spread the word.
