Marissa the Science Fairy is the first fairy in the School Days Fairies series.

Marissa has dark brown skin and auburn hair in a half-ponytail and dark-rimmed glasses. She wears a dark blue denim dress over a purple shirt with an orange neck bow, grey leggings and orange wedge shoes. Her wings are light grey tinted.
Her U.S outfit doesn't have leggings.

Kirsty is attending Rachel's school in Tippington Town for a week because her school was flooded over the summer. On the walk to school, they see Rachel’s friends, Adam, Amina and Ellie, who met Kirsty in Carly the Schoolfriend Fairy’s story. They all get sat down in the classroom and their new teacher Mr Beaker arrives. He’s nice at first, until a pair of new boys wearing the wrong uniform bound in. It’s assembly time and the class walk to the hall when the girls notice the new boys’ big feet and realise they’re Goblins. The headteacher Miss Patel announces that a school inspector will be visiting in three days, so teachers will be giving out gold stars for any good work or behaviour. After assembly, Mr Beaker takes the class to the school vegetable plot for the science lesson. But someone’s trampled all over it. The class return to the classroom to sketch nature but the magnifying glasses are warped, everyone’s except the goblins’. When Mr Beaker asks Rachel and Kirsty to get some plant pots from outside the classroom, Marissa the Science Fairy appears and asks them to come to Fairyland.
When they get to Fairyland School, they meet Carly, who leads them to meet the School Days Fairies. Jack Frost’s stolen their gold star badges to make his own school, so all the fairies’ and human world lessons will go badly. Marissa takes them to the Ice Castle and come across a newly-built hall, where Jack Frost is teaching the goblins that he invented everything. The fairies fly down to confront him, but Jack Frost tells them to bog off, he doesn’t have the gold star badges anymore. It appears to be true, since the goblins are misbehaving.
Marissa takes the girls back to their classroom, where Mr Beaker is teaching everyone how to plant beans. The goblins’ beans start growing into giant beanstalks. Mr Beaker then asks the class to draw plant diagrams, so the girls go up to them and ask for some pencils. Marissa sees her gold star inside one of their pencil cases, so the girls turn back into fairies and Rachel tries to sneak into his pencil case. The goblins see her and climb across the table to escape, but Mr Beaker roars at them, telling them off for climbing on tables.
As the goblins are being told off, the girls unzip the pencil case together and grab the star. Marissa thanks them and disappears. Everyone gets back to work and Mr Beaker gives Rachel and Kirsty’s work a gold star. The goblins ask him about their work, but it’s rubbish and that’s when the goblins realise the gold star is gone. Then the caretaker enters to take the giant beanstalks away, but they’ve shrunk and the caretaker remarks they must have been magic beanstalks.
