Rachel and Kirsty are sitting in Snip ’n’ Clip, a hair salon, where they are getting fresh hairstyles. Rachel and Kirsty’s hairdressers, Claire and Blair, are having trouble styling the girls’ hair so they go into the storeroom to get new supplies. Mrs Walker points out an article in a magazine, with a picture of Ella McCauley’s messy blue hairstyle, and Jessica Jarvis’ messy ponytail. Mrs Walker laughs it off as a new trend, but Rachel and Kirsty suspect it has something to do with Jack Frost’s clothing brand, Ice Blue. Just then, Matilda the Hair Stylist Fairy appears from a pile of hair jewels, and the girls agree to help her find her magic hairbrush. As Claire and Blair return, Matilda darts into Kirsty’s pocket, and the hairdressers get back to work. However, they’re still having trouble keeping their hair under control. Eventually, their appointment is up, and the girls have to deal with their bad hairstyles. Mrs Walker allows the girls to look around the shopping centre as she gets her hair done. The girls spot people with strange hairstyles; everyone seems to have blue hair. To Rachel’s horror, Mr Walker has a spiky blue hairstyle. He points out the salon he went to, Ice Blue Hair and the girls go to explore, finding the assistants are Goblins.
Matilda turns the girls into fairies, and they fly upwards to observe. They see Matilda’s magic hairbrush, and Kirsty thinks of an idea. She gets Matilda to turn her into a goblin with long blue hair. She heads towards the only hairdresser who has his hands full and offers to help him. The goblin won’t give the hairbrush to her, and unfortunately spots the glow Matilda radiates. As Matilda and Rachel fly towards him to grab the hairbrush, he runs away, leaving the girls to fly after him through various shops. However, he stops for a few seconds to check his hair, and Kirsty has another idea. When they’re in a secluded place, she and Rachel pull off the goblin’s wig, and as the goblin tugs it back, he hurls it into a rubbish bin. It’s ruined.
The girls feel a bit guilty, and offers him a new wig if he gives the hairbrush back. In a heartbeat, he hands it over to Matilda, who magic up a lovely new blue wig. Rachel and Kirsty spot their own hair has been fixed, and Matilda turns everyone in the shopping centre’s hair back to normal. The other goblins in Ice Blue Hair Salon are trying to call potential customers over to get blue hairstyles, much to the other shoppers’ amusement. Matilda thanks the girls and disappears. The girls meet Rachel’s parents again, where Mr Walker’s hair is back to normal, and Mrs Walker’s hair has been tied into an elegant bun. A shopping centre TV screen shows a shot of Mr Walker’s spiky blue hairdo from earlier, and he recalls feeling as if he was under a spell when he got it, and the girls exchange knowing glances.
