Fairy Profile from the Official RM Facebook Page[]

Penny tends to Glitter, the bright white magic pet pony. Jack Frost's goblins renamed her Icicle when they captured her. Glitter made sure the goblins got a real 'kick' out of that misadventure. Silver glitters come from Penny's wand, and when Glitter uses her magic to fly, shrink, or grow, she is surrounded by shimmering silver sparkles. Penny enjoys riding anything that moves. When Rachel and Kirsty first met Penny she was riding a squirrel!

On the last day of Rachel's visit, she and Kirsty are riding ponies on a trail near Bramble Stables, in the back of a line of children on ponies led by a stable hand. They see birds, squirrels, a rabbit and a pond full of snow geese, but then Rachel spots two goblins. The girls hang back, looking for more or for a magic pony, when loud bangs echo through the woods and the ponies panic. Rachel and Kirsty are separated from the others when the trail forks and their ponies swerve away from more goblins with party poppers. The girls have to concentrate on not falling off as the ponies race down the trail and eventually stop in a small clearing. Rachel is the first to see a small sparkle near some rocks, which turns out to be a tiny white pony which is clearly the seventh magic pet. The pony grows to the size of a normal pony and greets the ponies the girls had been riding, calming them, then turns to show the way out of the clearing.

Just then, both girls hear goblin voices approaching. None of the trees are big enough to hide all three ponies, but Penny the Pony Fairy appears on the back of a squirrel, greets Glitter the magic pony and turns an oak into a willow with long, curtain-like branches to hide underneath. Seven goblins enter the clearing boasting about how the magic pony is sure to come help the ponies they scared with their party poppers. Glitter tries to lead the girls on the other ponies quietly back to the trail, but one steps on a dry twig and they have to make a run for it. They reach the trail but are blocked by Jack Frost himself, who makes an icy rope to lead Glitter away. Penny’s magic is powerless to stop him as he climbs onto Glitter’s back, calling her Icicle and begins to ride. Penny sits in Kirsty’s shirt pocket to follow him and Rachel notices they’re catching up quickly, Glitter must be moving slowly on purpose.

Jack Frost reaches the goose pond and coats it in ice to cross. Seeing the girls in pursuit, he destroys the ice behind him so they can’t follow. The girls see no way around the pond and are wondering what to do when the flock of snow geese lands on the far side of the pond, looking confused and annoyed at the ice and making enough noise that Glitter refuses to go closer to them. Penny turns the girls into fairies, tethering their ponies to a tree and adds a little extra magic so the geese will understand them. They fly towards the flock and Rachel tells the geese that Jack Frost is responsible for the ice. The flock turns on him, pecking and honking enough that Glitter is able to pull herself free, Penny turns the ice rope into snowflakes and Glitter is able to shrink to her usual size and trot through the air to her. Meanwhile, the largest goose has apparently decided she wants to be Jack Frost’s pet (or possibly to have him as her pet), because magical sparkles are surrounding them both. The other geese are still pestering him, so Jack Frost gives up, thaws the pond and begins to lead his goblins away, but the biggest goose follows him with her flock in tow.

Penny offers to bring the girls with her to Fairyland, promising they’ll only be away from their ponies for a moment. The fairy king and queen and the other six Pet Keeper Fairies, greet them happily. Penny assures Bella that the fairy pets will be safe because Jack Frost now has a pet of his own and Queen Titania uses the seeing pool to show a new goose pond outside the Ice Castle where Jack Frost is hand-feeding the large snow goose. The fairies and their pets thank the girls and the king and queen send them home with a charm bracelet for each of them. The bracelets have a charm for each type of animal Rachel and Kirsty helped rescue.

Trivia[]

  • Penny's favourite foods are apples, mints and sugar cubes.
  • Penny is best friends with Helena the Horseriding Fairy.
  • Both Rachel and Kirsty both love horse riding since they have lots of horsey fun with Helena the Horseriding Fairy.
