In a park overlooking the ocean, Kirsty is roller skating while Rachel rides a skateboard. They head for an ice cream van, and Rachel discovers Pia the Penguin Fairy sitting atop the pretend ice cream cone on its roof. The girls follow Pia to some nearby bushes. Once they’re out of sight, Pia greets the girls and tells them she knows where her penguin Scamp is. She whisks them to a chilly polar shoreline, turning their warm-weather clothes into cozy winter gear. Kirsty spies some polar bears and guesses they’re at the North Pole, but Pia says she brought them to the South Pole and the bears must be lost because the magic conch is still broken.
Pia flies closer to a group of penguins to look for Scamp, and the girls notice one penguin stumble, the egg on his feet rolling away towards the water. They try to chase it, but they’re too slow until Pia conjures a snowboard under Rachel’s feet amd ice skates on Kirsty’s. Returning the egg to its father, the girls are thrilled to watch a baby penguin hatching—but just then a noisy snowmobile full of Goblins approaches. A large group of penguins, led by Scamp, splits off to lead the goblins away from the ones with the eggs, and the girls give chase.
Pia conjures a snowman holding a stop sign in front of the goblins, managing to delay them enough for the girls to get ahead. The penguins belly-slide down a slope, and the girls barely stop in time before they themselves slide right over a ledge. Above them, the goblin driving the snowmobile stops it so suddenly that all three goblins fall off and begin tumbling down the slope in a growing snowball. Pia turns the girls into fairies and conjures a soft snowdrift for the falling goblins to land in below the ledge, then the three fairies begin searching for the penguins.
A trail of penguin footprints leads into an icy cave, where Scamp points out the shell piece frozen into a dangling icicle. But the goblins have followed, and they throw snowballs to shatter the icicle, sending the shell piece flying. Scamp tucks the shell against his feet like an egg and hides among the other penguins, who peck at the goblins when they try to shove past. Pia shrinks Scamp and the shell to Fairyland size and scoops them up, flying out of the goblins’ reach. The girls fly out of the cave with Pia, watching the penguins diving into the ocean as she thanks them for their help. With a burst of magic, the girls find themselves back in the park as humans with their light clothes, each holding a fancy ice cream cone.
