Rae the Rollercoaster Fairy is the first fairy in the Funfair Fairies series.

Rachel and Kirsty are walking to Rachel's school to attend the opening of the Fernandos' Fabulous Funfair early. They meet twins Matilda and Georgia Fernando at the entrance; Kirsty asks which ride they like and they say the Zippy Zoom rollercoaster. Kirsty suggests riding with them as it is "more fun to ride with the owners" and their mother, Fifi, introduces herself before letting them through to buy tickets. They all board the Zippy Zoom but it is too slow. While the twins find their parents to fix the ride, Rachel and Kirsty play the Lucky Dip and find a fairy in Kirsty's parcel, who introduces herself as Rae the Rollercoaster Fairy.
Rae takes the girls to Fairyland where they meet the other Funfair Fairies, and the King and Queen explain Jack Frost has stolen their magic key rings whilst they were preparing for the Fairyland Summer Fair that is due to open the next evening. Jack stole the key rings so he can be the owner of the only "fun" funfair. Rae and the girls return to the Fernandos' Fabulous Funfair to find the Zippy Zoom is now working properly but is going fast, the only passengers being goblins. Rae turns Rachel and Kirsty into fairies and they find one of the goblins holding Rae's key ring. They try to make the rollercoaster go faster so the goblin can become dizzy and drop it, but he sits on the key ring instead. Rachel remembers the photo key rings and, back to human size, gets a key ring to offer to the goblins.
The fairies trade the photo key ring for Rae's magic one. The rollercoaster finally stops and the goblins leave with the photo key ring while other passengers board the cars. The fairies watch as people enjoy the ride before Rae turns the girls into humans and goes back to Fairyland. Rachel and Kirsty enjoy the Zippy Zoom with the Fernando twins before exploring the rest of the funfair.

- Rae's favourite funfair ride is the Steel Dragon in Japan, which is the world's longest rollercoaster.
