Kirsty and Rachel arrive at the New Harmony Mall just as the auditions for the music contest are about to begin. The emcee announces the four best-performing acts will be televised live in the final round before the first-place winner is chosen, then announces a band called “Green Factory”. The performers are short, dressed in green, and have a saxophone, so the girls wonder if Jack Frost has changed his band’s name at the last minute to confuse them, but when the girls get closer “Green Factory” turns out to be girls their age. Kirsty’s schoolmate Courtney is their saxophonist and lead singer - she tells Kirsty they had to cut her sax solo because her instrument isn’t working, and asks her to hold onto it while they perform.
Green Factory performs well, and Rachel is still applauding when Sadie the Saxophone Fairy pops out of the end of Courtney’s saxophone. She warns Kirsty that Jack Frost is somewhere in the mall and hides in her skirt pocket when Kirsty returns the saxophone to Courtney. With no sign of goblins during the next several acts, the girls begin to wonder if Jack Frost has given up, but “Frosty and his Gobolicious Band” are announced as the final act. Jack Frost, wearing sunglasses and accompanied by twelve goblins (one holding Sadie’s saxophone), begins a rap about ice and snow. The saxophonist goblin plays an excellent melody as the other goblins provide backup vocals and rhythm, and the girls aren’t surprised when the Gobolicious Band is announced as one of the finalists, along with Green Factory and two others.
After signing several autographs, Jack Frost leads his band to their dressing room, appointing the tallest goblin as a lookout. Luckily, the ladies in charge of the makeup team mistake the girls for their helpers and send them in with baskets full of cosmetics. Sadie sneaks towards her saxophone, but has to hide when the goblins Jack Frost sent to fetch him snacks come in, fighting over who should play the saxophone in the finals. Jack Frost stops the argument, then leaves with most of the goblins to sign more autographs. Only the saxophonist goblin remains, polishing the instrument. Getting an idea, Kirsty asks Sadie to conjure a polishing cloth that will make the saxophone invisible while Rachel distracts the goblin by doing his makeup.
The goblin is bragging so much as he polishes the saxophone again that he doesn’t notice the instrument has completely disappeared in his lap. Jack Frost comes back and is furious to find the saxophone “gone”, especially when it lands on his foot. Kirsty manages to pick it up and she, Sadie, and Rachel make a run for it, but the saxophone reappears when Sadie shrinks it to fairy size and she has to whisk the girls to Fairyland when Jack Frost sends ice magic their way.
In Fairyland, the king and queen thank the girls and give them magical music boxes, then send them home in time to watch the finals. Green Factory performs first and Courtney does her sax solo very well. Jack Frost snatches her saxophone for his act but without magic the Gobolicious Band can’t keep in rhythm; security escorts them offstage when the goblins begin fighting each other. Green Factory ends up winning the competition, to Kirsty and Rachel’s delight.
