Stephanie the Starfish Fairy is the fifth fairy in the Ocean Fairies series.

Appearance[]
Stephanie has short red hair and a star clip in her hair. She wears a denim waistcoat and brown belt over a grey jumpsuit. She also wears brown wedge-heeled sandals and a star-shaped necklace. Her wings are pointed and have a pinkish-red tint.
On the U.S cover, her clothes are different colours: black trousers with a purple and blue shirt and light blue waistcoat and pink sandals. The clip in her hair is blue instead of yellow.

Kirsty and Rachel are accompanying Kirsty’s gran’s astronomy club to a nighttime picnic on the beach. Gran points out the Great Bear constellation, and the girls amuse themselves by inventing their own constellations that look like Victoria’s violin and Ruby’s shoe. Another club member points out a shooting star, but when the girls look through one of the telescopes the club has brought, they see the “shooting star” is really Stephanie the Starfish Fairy flying towards some rocks. Getting permission to walk around, the girls follow the fairy, only to find she’s been trapped in a net by three Goblins wearing black. One goblin ties a piece of seaweed around the net to keep Stephanie inside, and they begin searching for her starfish, Spike.
Stephanie keeps the goblins busy by conjuring sparkly lights among the rocks and shallow pools that disappear when the goblins get close, while the girls look for Spike. With a little help from a starfish constellation that Stephanie creates over the right pool, the girls find the magic starfish and another piece of the magic conch shell. Worried the goblins might hurt Stephanie if they try a direct rescue, the girls decide to go to Fairyland for help but the fairy dust in their lockets doesn’t work. Realising Stephanie herself has to return Spike and the shell, the girls hide both among some anemones and are able to take themselves to Fairyland.
Shannon the Ocean Fairy meets them outside the Fairyland Aquarium and quickly goes with them to the human world when she hears what’s going on. As fairies, the three of them hide among a group of puffins and see Stephanie in the net, now too tired to make any more sparkles. The fairies come up with a plan, and Shannon conjures more sparkles in the nearest pool while the girls approach the goblins, staying just out of reach overhead. They offer to give the goblins the location of Spike and the shell piece in exchange for Stephanie, but the goblin with the net is wary of tricks and says he’ll only release the fairy after the goblins have the shell.
Just then, another goblin notices Shannon’s sparkly lure, and all three take off after it. Kirsty whistles a signal, and at Shannon’s instruction the puffins begin harassing the goblins. One escapes the birds only to be pinched by several crabs, and another trips and gets tangled in seaweed. This leaves the goblin with the net, who charges towards the pool only to skid on a rock made extra-slippery by sea snails and lose his balance, flailing and letting go of the net before he lands in the water. Between them, Rachel, Kirsty, and Shannon are able to catch the net and free Stephanie. The girls lead the two fairies to Spike’s hiding place, where Stephanie retrieves her starfish and Shannon her shell piece. Turning the girls back into humans, Shannon and Stephanie thank them and leave for Fairyland. When the girls rejoin the Astronomy Club, they enjoy some star-shaped biscuits.Trivia[]
