At Wetherbury College, a showcase is being held for various classes offered to the community. Kirsty’s mother heads for the woodcarving table with others from that class while the girls look around, seeing a pottery wheel and a table where a make-up artist makes a volunteer look like a ghoul. Some tap dancers close to the girls’ age are having trouble with their rehearsal in the corner, however and the girls know it’s because the magic Tap Dance Ribbon is still missing. One dancer asks the girls for help finding her shoes and cane, introducing herself as Ashleigh Hart. They agree to look outside while she looks inside, but on their way out they hear a faint, rhythmic tapping in time with the dance music. This turns out to be Tasha the Tap Dance Fairy under a table. She suspects the missing shoes and cane may have been taken, possibly by a goblin and hides in Kirsty's pocket until the girls are outside.
Near the corner of the building, Tasha announces that she can sense her ribbon nearby and the three follow a path around the side where the dance music can be heard through a window and more tapping leads them to a goblin around the next corner, dancing with the ribbon tied around Ashleigh’s cane. He refuses to give it back and instead dances his way right through a side door into the building, following the music. As the girls struggle with the door latch, Tasha flies through an open window. The door opens so suddenly that both girls tumble into the room to see Tasha untying her ribbon with magic as the distracted goblin keeps dancing. Unfortunately, he notices her and freezes her with his magic, Rachel catches Tasha in her hat but the goblin has escaped with the ribbon. Trying to thaw the fairy, which a passerby in the corridor luckily mistakes for a sculpture, Rachel and Kirsty walk back towards the large hall, spotting Ashleigh searching a classroom on the way.
The freeze magic has worn off Tasha by the time the girls find the goblin, who has joined the line of tap dancers in full view of everyone in the hall. Fortunately, everyone who sees assumes he’s another volunteer from the make-up table, but the girls need to get him out of there before Ashleigh or the make-up artist notice him. At Kirsty’s suggestion, Tasha challenges him to a dance competition, leading him to an empty classroom and explaining the winner gets to keep the ribbon. The goblin copies Tasha’s first two routines easily but stumbles when trying to copy her third, very complex routine.
He refuses to hand over the ribbon, so Tasha says she’ll give him one more try and begins a simpler series of steps, tossing her cane high in the air at the end. Realising what Tasha has in mind, Kirsty steps forward as the goblin throws Ashleigh’s cane and catches it, untying the ribbon and returning it to Tasha. The annoyed goblin tries to keep Ashleigh’s shoes, but throws them off in disgust and leaves after realising he can’t tap dance without the ribbon. After Tasha leaves for Fairyland, the girls return Ashleigh’s shoes and cane in time to watch a stellar performance by her and the other dancers.
