One late afternoon, Rachel and Kirsty are having fun climbing all over the forest playground at Camp Stargaze. There are zip lines and ladders and a long rope bridge leading to a treehouse with a slide spiraling down the tree. Rachel and Kirsty cross to the treehouse and slide down the slide, which ends in a little pretend cave. Outside, Matt and Lucas are exclaiming over hedgehogs and badgers—not animals that are usually active in daylight. Curious, the girls climb up to a camouflaged hut in the trees meant for observing wildlife, complete with binoculars. Looking through them, Rachel sees that the farm animals in a pasture across the river from camp are all asleep. A soft hooting leads both girls out of the hut and along a walkway, where they find a family of owls. More hooting turns out to be a magical owl, sparkling silver and white, who shakes fairy dust on them and transports them to Fairyland as fairies.

Fairyland is unusually quiet, and the girls realise it’s because everyone is asleep. The owl leads them to Yasmin the Night Owl Fairy and hoots loudly to wake her up. Yasmin greets the girls, thanks the owl (who is her friend, named Shadow), and brings them back to the human world as she explains her missing bag of magic sleep dust is making everyone fall asleep and awaken at the wrong times. Back at the forest playground, the girls and Yasmin follow a rumbling noise to the treehouse, where four Goblins are asleep and snoring loudly. It looks like it will be easy to search for the bag, but the owlets are scared by the snoring and begin making noise, waking the goblins. They grumble and complain as they gather their pillows and blankets to sleep somewhere else, one of them mentioning that Jack Frost wants to disrupt others’ sleep because he has trouble sleeping himself. After an argument that escalates to a pillow fight, the girls see one goblin sneaking out of the treehouse with a goblin-shaped ragdoll, something sparkly in its pocket. Unfortunately, he notices them following him and escapes down the slide with the others behind him, and they barricade themselves in the pretend cave.

Rachel and Kirsty suddenly begin to feel sleepy themselves, and they curl up on the treehouse floor. By the time they awake, it’s dark out and they’re human sized again (Yasmin explains she changed them back in case anyone saw them), and the goblins are playing outside in the moonlight. The ragdoll is now strapped to one goblin’s chest in a baby carrier. As other daytime animals begin waking up, Rachel suggests they trick the goblins into showing off on the playground by pretending they themselves are scared of it. The goblin with the ragdoll gloatingly hops onto one of the zip line seats when Kirsty says the ride is too fast for her, and Yasmin tries to grab her bag, but the goblin is holding onto it too tightly.

Just then, Shadow the magic owl swoops in and starts hooting and flapping at the goblin. He lets go of the ragdoll to shoo the owl without letting go of the sip line seat, and Rachel spies her chance and hops onto the other zip line. Yasmin notices and uses her magic to slow the goblin’s zip line down so Rachel can catch up, and she’s able to grab the whole ragdoll out of the carrier as she goes by.

Rachel returns the bag to Yasmin and the doll to the sulky goblin. All four stumble sleepily away while the girls hear the night creatures waking up around them. Yasmin thanks the girls and flies away with Shadow, and Rachel and Kirsty return to their tent, wishing aloud they had some extra magic to quiet Mr Tate’s snoring.
